Centella asiatica, also called cica or gotu kola, is the ingredient Korean formulators reach for when skin is red, reactive or recovering. It is used to calm irritation and support barrier repair, which is why it turns up across cleansers, toners, ampoules and sun care rather than in a single product.

SKIN1004 sources its centella from a single region of Madagascar and builds almost its entire range around it. The Madagascar Centella Ampoule is where most people start — 100ml of lightweight centella extract.
